Montana McMahon is a graduate of Liberty University School of Law in Lynchburg, Virginia earning her juris doctorate with a concentration in family law. She holds both a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at Texas State University in San Marcos, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Additionally, she is a graduate of the Texas State Honors College and published an article on international law and diplomacy.

While earning her degree at Liberty Law, she received the CALI Excellence Award in Criminal Law and was accepted into the Liberty Law and Policy mentorship program. Furthermore, Montana served as the President of the Federalist Society, and was an active member of both the Women’s Law Society and Military Law Society.

While at Texas State University, Montana worked as a graduate assistant in the political science department, served on student government as a senator, and worked as a legislative intern for Texas State Senator Donna Campbell.

Throughout law school, Montana gravitated toward the practice of family law due to the special opportunity to learn from a practicing Guardian Ad Litem in Virginia. Her insight and fervor for helping children and families was awe-inspiring and proved contagious. It was through her guidance and support that Montana decided to spend both of her summers during law school in the field of family law and the non-profit anti-child trafficking and child abuse public policy sector.

Montana joined us at Tidwell Law in August 2025, and was drawn to the small-firm, client-driven mission that is imperative while traversing the intricacies of family law such as divorce, child custody, and adoption. Family law matters are uniquely personal and often impact every facet of a client’s life. Montana is dedicated to providing the clarity that is often needed during such trying times through a careful balance of empathy and zealous advocacy for the client’s best interest.

Although a Connecticut native, Montana has found her home here in Texas! Beyond her legal pursuits, Montana enjoys golfing, being involved in her church, and spending time with her pitbull, Ophelia.
