Jerry W. Tidwell, Jr. is an experienced family law attorney who has spent more than 20 years helping clients through some of life’s most difficult legal challenges. He focuses on divorce, child custody, property division, and spousal support, combining trial-tested advocacy with a practical, empathetic approach to resolution.

Jerry began his career immediately after earning his J.D., cum laude, from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2003. As a prosecutor with the Collin County District Attorney’s Office, he quickly rose to Chief Misdemeanor Prosecutor and later served in the Felony Special Crimes Division, gaining extensive courtroom experience in cases involving DWI and family violence.

In 2006, Jerry opened his own practice, concentrating on family law while continuing to handle select criminal defense matters. His trial background gives him a strong advantage in both negotiation and litigation, allowing him to secure fair settlements or, when necessary, advocate decisively in court. He understands that family law disputes are not only legal matters but also deeply personal turning points, and he takes pride in helping clients move forward with stability and confidence.

Jerry’s dedication to justice extends beyond private practice. He has represented indigent defendants as a court-appointed attorney and brings a broad perspective shaped by prior work in environmental consulting and business ventures. This diverse background enhances his ability to find practical solutions to complex problems.

Admitted to practice in Texas, Colorado, and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Northern, and Western Districts of Texas, Jerry is an active member of the State Bar of Texas, including its Family Law and Criminal Justice sections.

Away from the office, Jerry enjoys time with his partner, Marissa, and their three rescue dogs. Known among friends as the “most married unmarried person,” he brings the same loyalty and commitment to his personal life as he does to his clients.
